How To Increase the Life of Your Used Car

If you have a used car, chances are good that you want that used car to run efficiently for many years to come. After all, maintaining a car is much more cost-effective than having to replace a used car every few years. One of the best ways to ensure that your car stays in peak condition is to regularly service your car. Here are a few things that you should do regularly in order to properly maintain your used car:

Change the oil

Changing your oil helps to ensure that all of the parts of your engine run efficiently and effectively. An engine is a complex machine that has many moving parts. Engines also have to perform in a variety of extreme conditions, including intense heat, cold, wet, and more. Therefore, maintaining an engine can be a challenge throughout the year.

Oil helps to ensure that all of the moving parts in the engine run smoothly by lubricating these parts. With repeated use, the oil can become dirty and start to break down. Old oil is not as effective as clean oil. It is important to change your oil about every 3,000 miles or three months in order to keep it clean so you engine runs smoothly.

Tires

Tires are some of the most important parts of your car, but they receive less attention than many other parts. The tires are the only part of the car that comes in contact with the road. These tires help to ensure that your car runs in the direction that you want in all conditions, including wet and slippery conditions.

However, tires can become worn down over time. They can also become knocked out of alignment. When your tires are not working optimally, the car can suffer. You’ll not only have diminished fuel economy, but, if your tires (or wheels) are out of alignment, your axel can become so strained that it cracks, causing major damage to your car.

Check the air pressure and tread wear on your tires every other time you stop for gas. Be sure to regularly rotate your tires as well.

Check-up

It is important to have your engine checked up on a regular basis. Most cars come with check-up times in the manual, such as every 15,000 miles or in predetermined intervals. Make sure that you follow these prescriptions to keep your car functioning properly.
