When We Won’t Let You Buy a Used Car

We’re in the used car business because we love selling used cars in Red Deer to people to help them get mobile without breaking their bank accounts. However, while we are able to find thousands of used cars of all makes and models to suit the specific needs and preferences of our customers, there are times when we won’t let a customer buy a used car. After all, we want our customers to be safe and to have a used car that gives them value for years to come. Here are some of those times we won’t let you buy a used car:

If the Car Has a Bad History

From time to time, we come across used cars that look wonderful on the outside. They often have shiny new paint and may even have fresh upholstery and features on the inside, like new speakers or console parts. From the looks of it, this type of car has been well-cared for and maintained. It would seem like the perfect car for one of our customers!

However, if a used car looks too good to be true, we always do our homework to look further. Every time we come across a used car in Red Deer - whether it looks like a dream car or not - we take the time to get a vehicle history report. A vehicle history report is a report that all used cars have and is based on the VIN number that is associated with each individual car. This VIN number is recorded by a mechanic or auto body repair person every time he or she has to perform major work on a car.

In the example of the car above, it would be possible that the car has all new features because of flood or fire damage. In such a case, all of the superficial fixes in the world would not make us comfortable enough to resell the car to one of our customers. After all, you never know what damage could be lying just beneath the surface of those repairs, such as a cracked frame or axel.

If the Car is Too Expensive for a Budget

Many of our customers come to us with set budgets. These budgets are often determined by income, other debts, spending habits and more. We will work closely with our customers to ensure that the car they purchase suits their budget. We will often even finance the purchase of the vehicle for our customers.

However, if a customer wishes to purchase a car that is just outside of their budget, we will encourage him or her to investigate other, more affordable options. Long term financial comfort is important to us and we never want to encourage a customer to purchase a car that will put undue financial strain on them or their family.
